Hull FC announced their fourth new addition to their squad on 1 August with the signing of Melbourne Storm winger Mahe Fonua.
The 22-year-old winger will join up with his new side on a 3-year-deal for the start of next season.
Fonua will arrive at the KC Stadium with a reputation as a prolific try scorer having scored 23 tries in 50 NRL games with his hometown club where he has plied his trade alongside such superstars as Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater.
Coach Lee Radford said: “This is not just a coup for the club, it’s also a coup for the competition.
“We were surprised to hear about his availability as a relatively established NRL player and it certainly shows we’re moving in the right direction in terms of our recruitment.”
Fonua has also played international football for Tonga scoring 2 tries in 4 appearances to date.
He is seen as an ideal replacement for the departing Tom Lineham who will leave the KC Stadium at the end of the year to move to Super League rivals Warrington Wolves.
